Mankato, Minnesota – December 26, 1862: The date of the largest mass-execution in American history.

Government records state that 38 men were executed. These records are only as accurate as those who recorded them chose to be. We may never know the truth.

The 39th Indian is based on a true story. This chronicle details the events that lead up to the Santee Sioux uprising and the executions that followed.
